Speech Matters is proud to offer a noninvasive dysphagia evaluation, the Modified Barium Swallow Study (MBSS).
The MBSS is a form of real-time x-ray called fluoroscopy, used to evaluate the ability to swallow safely and effectively.
The exam can help identify the consistencies of liquid and food that a patient can most safely consume. This exam is performed with a dysphagia specialty trained speech-language pathologist present.
Benefits of the Modified Barium Swallow Study (MBSS) at Speech Matters:
•Convenient and streamlined process giving patients faster access to the faster.
•Dysphagia evaluation benefits patients’ quality of life.
•Cost saving: the MBSS prevents the need for treatment of pneumonia and other problems as well as avoids re-admittance costs.
•MBSS is preferred choice and gold standard in evaluating dysphagia.
